Although it was reported earlier this spring that Elton John and his partner David Furnish — who entered into a British "civil partnership" eight years ago — would legally wed in the UK this past may. THR now reports that they couple plan officially marry in a private ceremony this weekend, according to a rep for the singe. There are no additional details why the original plan didn't take place. Or whether their sons Elijah and Zachary will be in attendance as earlier stated.
As Furnish stated before: “We don’t feel the need to take an extra step legally. But since we’re committed for life, we feel it’s really important to take that step, and take advantage of that amazing change in legislation. We all live by example.”
We also know that Furnish, 51, has large tattoos of their boys’ names on the inside of his forearms in Old Gothic script, “Elijah” on the left arm, “Zachary” on the right. Elton has their names tattooed on his back, according to Furnish.
Tom Hardy is slated to play '70s-era Elton in a planned Rocketman biopic. As THR also mentions, Elton John is also set to perform "I'm Still Standing" on New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2015 live from his concert at Brooklyn's Barclays Center—right after the ball drops. Quite a way to ring in the New Year for the 67-year-old music legend.
