Jaco Nepgen is Triarc’s Key Individual (KI), Sales Director and one of its Founding members. He has been in the Financial Industry since the early 1990’s moving up through the ranks holding various Managerial positions within ABSA and FNB. It was during his time as a Private Banker and his involvement in Financial Planning that the seed for Triarc was planted. His passion for Client Services together with his frustration at the status of the Insurance Industry, set him on a journey to try and change the perceptions of the industry towards those that had been discriminated against before, and it was from this passion that Triarc was born.
Between his numerous community responsibilities, he also pushes iron at the local gym and finds time to watch one game only – Game of Thrones. We decided to catch up with Jaco and ask him about Triarc and his Vision.
Q: When did you decide to start Triarc?
A: The idea of Triarc was born from the realization that an opportunity existed to establish a Financial Services organization that did not discriminate based on sexual orientation, gender or race. The concept evolved to become what Triarc is today, a pioneering Financial Services Provider for all progressive South Africans!
Triarc owes its existence to a team of passionate business leaders, actuaries, underwriters, designers and other believers who worked tirelessly for the last six years to develop its products. These include the brightest and most forward thinking minds from the head offices of SCOR* in Paris, the local team in SCOR SA, and Guardrisk Life.
Q: Triarc is relatively new - Are Triarc’s client’s Insurance Policy`s Safe?
A: The Long Term Insurance Act 52 of 1998 deals with the conduct of Insurance Providers and their finances and this is enforced by the Financial Services Board, (the FSB).
The FSB ensures that Insurance Providers maintain the necessary Capital Reserves to honour their obligations to Policy Holders. Triarc is registered with the FSB, (FSP45009), and has to comply to all Capital Adequacy Requirements as required by law.
Triarc is also underwritten by Guardrisk Life, (part of the MMI Group), who is ultimately responsible to honour policies and pay claims in the event that Triarc is unable to do so.
Q: How much cover has Triarc already granted?
A: Triarc has sold to hundreds of South Africans already and has thousands and thousands of already support Triarc, currently we have under a Billion in cover granted
